6 ways to say “hasta luego” to Spain 🇪🇸

Reading time: 3min

In Spain, goodbyes are rarely final. “Hasta luego” literally means “see you later”.

After 15 unforgettable years in Spain, Málaga has truly become my home ❤️ So as I get ready to embark on a new adventure, I made the most out of the time I had left and prioritised revisiting my favourite spots and enjoying my favourite foods taking in the essence of Spain one last time. Here’s how I made the most of my remaining days and said “hasta luego” to the Costa del Sol in style.

#1 A delicious journey through the flavours of Spain

When you LOVE food as much as I do, you can’t say “hasta luego” to Spain without embarking on a last culinary journey 😜

Can you think of a better start to the day than fluffy waffles and colourful refreshing smoothies? And how about continuing with tapas for lunch – enjoying a taste of all the best foods Spain has to offer.

Next, a scoop (or three) of Choco Pistachio ice cream at Heladería Inma in Málaga, savouring the perfect mix of chocolate indulgence and pistachio yumminess 🍦 (they of course have many more flavours, but Choco Pistachio is my all time favourite).

Enjoy the sun with a cold Alhambra beer or a Tinto de Verano at any chiringuito by the beach is pretty close to a perfect afternoon on the Costa del Sol. And for the perfect culinary finale watching the sunset, indulging in Margaritas de Guayaba at Sapino in El Pedregalejo 🍹

#2 Sunset Magic on the Costa del Sol

Sunsets on the Costa del Sol are pure magic. As the sun sets, the sky becomes a canvas of beautiful colours painting the perfect backdrop (yes, sunsets all over the world are beautiful, but there’s something special about sunsets in Málaga).

Whether you’re at Muelle Uno in Málaga, the Buddhist temple viewpoint in Benalmádena Pueblo, or simply on the beach, the sunsets are breathtaking 😍 With the Mediterranean Sea and Africa on the horizon, each sunset offers a moment of peace and beauty that’s hard to describe.

#3 Go sailing for a day

Imagine this: It’s a beautiful sunny day (one of those 320+ days of sunshine on the Costa del Sol ☀️) You’re on a sailing boat, laying on the deck, catching some sun and enjoying the breeze that makes the boat sail along. Sounds amazing, right? 😉 Spending a day sailing along the Costa del Sol is just amazing and the perfect way to disconnect ⛵

#4 Dance the night away

Hit the dance floor and immerse yourself in the lively Spanish culture at Ranchon Cubano (Sundays are the best!) For me, dancing salsa and bachata (any kind of dancing really) is all about having fun and feeling the rhythm 💃 I love how dancing and being fully immersed in the music just elevates my mood, gives me heaps of energy, leads to pure happiness and simple just makes me smile 😁

#5 Exploring the Costa del Sol on 4 wheels

For anyone who knows me, they’ll tell you: I have a serious love for driving 🏎️ There’s something about hitting the road, especially along the Costa del Sol, that just fills me with pure joy. It’s not just about getting from A to B; it’s about putting on some of my favourite music, going with the flow, and enjoying the freedom of the open road 🥰

#6 Capture the moments

What helps to make a place feel like home, is the people you surround yourself with. So it was very important for me to spend time with the people closest to my heart. I made sure to capture the special moments in pictures and videos.  A heartfelt “hasta luego” and a warm hug goes a long way ❤️

Hasta luego, España. Until next time 👋

Saying farewell to Spain isn’t a final goodbye; it’s more like a “see you later“. The beauty, warmth, and spirit of Spain have a way of staying in the heart, no matter where one goes. So, as I pack my bags and head towards my next adventure, I’m happy to know that a piece of Spain will always be with me, waiting for the day I return 🇪🇸
